In einer Musikerfamilie aufgewachsen studierte die Mezzosopranistin Sophia Bockholdt Gesang bei Prof. Gerhild Romberger an der HfM Detmold. Bereits während ihres Studiums spezialisierte sie sich auf das Konzertfach und ist heute erfolgreich als Solistin und Ensemblesängerin in ganz Deutschland und Europa tätig. Sie sang u.a. bei der Stuttgarter Bachwoche, der Ruhrtriennale, dem Musikfest ION und den Schwetzinger Festspielen, arbeitete mit zahlreichen namhaften Dirigent*innen und wirkte in CD- und Rundfunkproduktionen mit. In den vergangenen Jahren trat sie gemeinsam mit den Duisburger Philharmonikern, Capella de la Torre, der Deutschen Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, dem SWR Vokalensemble & Sinfonieorchester und Concerto Köln auf. Mit dem ChorWerk Ruhr (Leitung: Florian Helgath) ist sie regelmäßig als Chorsolistin zu hören und gehört zur Kernbesetzung des 2023 gegründeten Bremer Solistenchores unter der Leitung von Johannes Liedbergius.

Ein besonderes Interesse hegt Sophia Bockholdt für die Musik des Barock sowie des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Im Herbst 2021 wirkte sie bei den Donaueschinger Musiktagen in THE RED DEATH (Uraufführung) von Francesco Filidei unter dem Dirigat von Sylvain Cambreling mit.

Als Musikvermittlerin arbeitete sie für das Musikfest Bremen und das Konzerthaus GLOCKE, ist als Stimmbildnerin für die Chöre am Bremer Dom tätig und betreute 2019/2020 die Gesangsausbildung von Studierenden des Schauspielstudios Frese (Hamburg). Fasziniert von den vielfältigen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten der Stimme gestaltet Sophia Bockholdt auch Konzertprogramme auf der Basis vokal-instrumentaler Improvisation.

Mezzo soprano Sophia Bockholdt grew up in a musical family and studied singing with Prof. Gerhild Romberger at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. During her studies, she decided to focus on concert repertoire and is now in demand as a successful soloist and ensemble singer all over Germany and Europe. She has sung at the Stuttgarter Bachwoche, the Ruhrtriennale, the Musikfest ION and the Schwetzinger Festspiele, worked with numerous renowned conductors and took part in CD and radio productions. In recent years, she has performed with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Capella de la Torre, The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the SWR Vokalensemble & Symphony Orchestra and Concerto Köln. She appears regularly as a choir soloist with ChorWerk Ruhr (dir. Florian Helgath) and is a core member of the Bremen Soloists' Choir since its founding in 2023 under the direction of Johannes Liedbergius.

Sophia has a special interest in Baroque music as well as the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. In autumn 2021 she participated in the Donaueschingen Music Festival in the world premiere of Francesco Filidei’s THE RED DEATH, conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.

Sophia Bockholdt has worked as a music educator for the Musikfest Bremen and the GLOCKE Concert Hall. She currently works with the choirs of St. Petri Cathedral Bremen and supervised the vocal training of students at the acting school Frese (Hamburg) in 2019/2020. Fascinated by the manifold expressive potential of the human voice, Sophia also puts together concert programs featuring vocal-instrumental improvisation.
